As a mom and a reading specialist, I know firsthand that our children’s learning starts at home. As parents, we are our children’s first teachers. Development of literacy and language skills begins even before a child is born (they begin their language acquisition in utero!). I get asked all the time for advice on what parents can do at home to help their child with reading and writing. This site is an attempt to answer some of those questions. Whether you are a parent who wants to help your child build his or her literacy skills, or an educator looking for resources for your students or to provide to the parents of your students, then this site is a resource for you. I hope you find what you are looking for.  If you have suggestions for content you would like to see on this site, questions you would like answered, or if you would like to advertise or be a contributor on this site, please contact me on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Literacy-Matters-Today/181277471947260 . I also like to periodically review new products, software, websites, or any educational materials related to literacy, so please contact me if interested in a teacher or parent to review materials.
